Right at the beginning of civilization, they cultivated the Higher Self; the Self that knows what is right and what is wrong.
It takes courage to put into practice what is right. Otherwise, conflict appears.
What prevents the right part, the Good, from manifesting itself, is precisely the part that constitutes the lower self, the flesh.
Men used to cultivate a lot more the Higher Self. Ancient civilizations, even before Egypt, for those who have had the opportunity to read something about this, used to cultivate the mind, and so had the opportunity to know, to discover the world they inhabited.
The change was gradual. First, they began to cultivate the body. One of the first to do so was the Greek civilization. But something was very clear then: the cultivating of the mind and of the philosophical aspects. In Greece, great philosophers who indicated conducts that remain until today, flourished. They were the ones who kept the knowledge that came from previous civilizations.
The modalities of physical development appeared. Then came the Olympics: groups of people participated in competitions. While at the arena wrestling was taking place – an expression of physical development and of physical strength – in other cities in Greece, philosophical meetings were taking place. They discussed concepts and norms. There, the man who participated in a philosophical discussion was also, in a way, aiming for supremacy: power through the aspect of mental development.
However, the lower self seems to have won, and philosophers ceased to be heard by the rulers of the time, who were before protected by the court’s wise men who dictated the norms, the laws. They came to be protected no longer by the advice of wise men and philosophers, representatives of mental development, but were now defended by armies, who had developed the physical aspects of the lower self.
Man began then to cultivate aspects of defense.
In today’s society, there has been a combination of both: man, making use of all his mental development, uses it to build weapons. Today we have beings with much knowledge, locked in laboratories, but not to solve something or to reach something that is an expression of Good for Humanity, but rather, to build bombs that kill.
They say we have to protect ourselves! Of course, I believe that we have to protect what is good with all our might. But what is man defending? Safeguarding what? A lost society? A land contaminated by pollution? To build weapons for what? To guard what? Defense of what?
The higher forces, knowing this, and even predicting it, allow everyone to go through the experience. In view of this, they decided that Earth would go through another stage. As we said in the Basic Course: the Psychic stage, where man would again cultivate the mind, discovering the Universe in which he lives and all that exists around him. For some years now this has been happening.
There are many groups all around the world, groups that cultivate the mind for a higher understanding of everything. We are one of these groups. I can even say: black belts! We are here, doing that, until the day that you all have total confidence in the mental force, so much so that weapons will no longer be needed, because man will have much greater strength than that which the protection of a machine gun can offer. But for that we have to start with small things: small exercises, until one day everyone can see the weapon for protection of the environment created within themselves: strength, mental energy at the service of Peace.
We have a vast program, very intense. It takes a while, it is long, but it is possible. For those who want it, we’ll keep our doors open so that we get there.
It is also important to say that a kind of harvest is being done, as it must be, and there is already a privilege, a merit within each one of us who has, as time has gone by, removed many veils! They are those that have the merit of being able to pick up vibrations that are a little more subtle. This is privilege! That is why they are here, answering our call. “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
